Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on last week's Sermon:
Day 1: Embracing Your Calling at Any Age Reading: Joshua 14:6-12 Devotional: Caleb's unwavering faith and enthusiasm at 85 years old reminds us that age is no barrier to God's purpose. Like Caleb, who boldly asked for the mountain country, we too are called to embrace challenges and opportunities to serve God, regardless of our age or circumstances. Reflect on how you might be limiting yourself based on age or perceived limitations. Ask God to renew your vision and passion for His work. Remember, as long as you have breath, God has a purpose for your life. How can you step out in faith today to pursue the "mountain" God is calling you to conquer?
Day 2: Mentoring and Spiritual Legacy Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-14 Devotional: Elijah's final days were spent investing in his protégé, Elisha. This powerful example of mentorship reminds us of the importance of pouring into others and leaving a spiritual legacy. Consider the people God has placed in your life. Who might you mentor or encourage in their faith journey? Conversely, who might you learn from? Pray for opportunities to both give and receive spiritual guidance. Remember, discipleship is a key part of our Christian walk. How can you intentionally invest in someone's spiritual growth this week?
Day 3: Seeing with Eyes of Faith Reading: 2 Kings 6:15-17 Devotional: Elisha's prayer for his servant to see the spiritual reality around them is a powerful reminder of the unseen spiritual realm. Often, we can become discouraged by what we see with our physical eyes, forgetting the greater reality of God's presence and power. Take time to pray for spiritual sight today. Ask God to open the eyes of your heart to see His work in and around you. In what areas of your life do you need to trust God's unseen presence and power? How might your perspective change if you viewed your circumstances through eyes of faith?
Day 4: Hungering for God's Spirit Reading: Luke 11:9-13 Devotional: Elisha's bold request for a double portion of Elijah's spirit reflects a deep hunger for God's presence and power. Jesus encourages us to ask, seek, and knock, assuring us that the Father delights in giving the Holy Spirit to those who ask. Reflect on your own spiritual appetite. Are you content with where you are, or do you long for more of God's presence and power in your life? Take time to pray, asking God to increase your spiritual hunger and to fill you afresh with His Spirit. What might change in your life if you consistently sought a greater outpouring of God's Spirit?
Day 5: Surrendering Control Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6 Devotional: The daily decision to let God lead our lives is at the heart of Christian discipleship. Like dancers learning to move in harmony, we must learn to yield control to our divine partner. Reflect on areas of your life where you struggle to let God lead. What fears or desires make it difficult to fully surrender? Meditate on the promise that as we trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will make our paths straight. Take time to consciously surrender each area of your life to God's leadership today. How might your day look different if you consistently allowed God to lead in every decision and interaction?
